Caring for original botanical artwork
Original botanical artworks in the Small Joys series are described as ink and acrylic on acid-free paper. The pieces reviewed are listed as unframed. Check the details on your individual artwork before making framing or display decisions.
Display
Choose a place where the artwork can be displayed securely. For advice about light or environmental conditions for your particular piece, consult a qualified paper conservator or framer familiar with original artwork on paper.
Handling
When moving an unframed piece, keep it supported and avoid touching the painted surface. If you notice loose paint, a tear, or other damage, stop handling it and consult a conservator before attempting a repair or cleaning.
Framing
The artworks reviewed are listed as unframed. Share the artwork’s listed materials, ink and acrylic on acid-free paper, with your framer. Ask them to recommend a framing approach for this specific piece rather than attaching anything to the artwork yourself.
When to contact a conservator
Contact a qualified art conservator if the paper is torn, stained, or wet, or if the painted surface appears loose or damaged. Do not attempt to clean or repair the artwork yourself. For questions about an individual piece, contact Malaika Ross Studio.
